Volkswagen Camper Adventures Road Trip Playlist Part 2

Last week we published our Campervan Road Trip Playlist (Part 2). We hope that you enjoyed our rather eclectic mix! This week, we are very pleased to be publishing Volkswagen Camper Adventures Road Trip Playlist (Part 2). I have to admit that number 3 is on my extended playlist! Enjoy!

My Campervan Playlist (part 2)

by Volkswagen Camper Adventures

Back in July, in collaboration with The Chaotic Campervaners, we posted our camper van playlist, and due to the popularity of said blog, we're going to bring you part two!

Like last time, we've teamed up with the 'Chaotic' ones, and will publish their blog on the 18th September.

So... without any further ado, I bring you playlist, part 2! (Ooh ooh, that rhymed! 😁)

1. Surfin' U.S.A. by The Beach Boys.  Well, what do you expect from a family of beach lovers?  The 60s superstars are a big hit in our van, and also featured in part one of our playlist, with one of their later records, Kokomo.

2. Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim.  This tune was massive when it was released in 1998.  It also features in a famous dance scene in the 1999 film, She's All That.

3. At The River by Groove Armada.  Sampling Patti Page's, 1957 Old Cape Cod, Groove Armada made one of the most beautiful chill out tunes.  I often use it for beach scene videos on our social media pages or YouTube channel, like this Poldhu Cove short.

4. Teardrop by Massive Attack.  Staying down the 'chill out' route, either this or Newton Faulkner's acoustic version really hits the buttons.

5. Golden Years by David Bowie.  I challenge you to think of a poor Bowie song.  For me, this is his best.  Love it!

6. The Pretender by Foo Fighters.  Probably the most powerful band that I've ever seen live, and this is one of their 'power' tracks!  Just make sure it doesn't make you drive too fast!

7. Rock 'n' Roll Star by Oasis.  A top rock song from one of the UKs biggest bands, ever.  I'm gutted that I never got to see Oasis play live, but I did get the next best thing by seeing Noasis play at Vanlife Fest in 2022.

8. Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.  More recently associated with Netfix's Stranger Things, Kate Bush released this one in 1985 from her massive Hounds of Love album, but it took 36 years and 310 days to reach number 1.  Unbelievable fact for such a brilliant song.

9. Bohemian Like You by The Dandy Warhols.  A great singalong song for any journey.

10. Steal My Sunshine by Len.  Released in 1999, while I was still in high school, this was the soundtrack to our summer.  It still stands the test now, and sounds great in the sun with the windows down.

11. Fans by King's of Leon.  This is another song that reminds me of long summer days.  Kings of Leon are one of the best bands to see live, and this song is one that always goes down well... probably because it's about the bands gratitude towards their English fans.

12. The Chain by Fleetwood Mac.  If you read part one of my playlist, you'll know I love 'The Mac', and driving and The Chain go hand in hand... but, do you know the link?

13. Albatross by Fleetwood Mac.  It's my list so I'll have two Mac songs if I like.  This one can join At The River and Teardrop as top chillout songs.  For some, it has been spoilt, reminding people of certain M&S ads (not just any ads).  I'm pleased to own an original vinyl cut of this record which belonged to my late Grandad, who loved this song.

14. Headlong by Queen.  The Kings of British rock.  That is all.

15. She Sells Santuary by The Cult.  1985 must have been a good year to release music, as this is another top song from that year, that's lasted the test of time. High tempo and and exciting vocal raises the feel good factor.

16. Strict Machine by Goldfrapp.  I've recently rediscovered the genius of Alison Goldfrapp and forgotten how good she is.  A number of Goldfrapp songs made it back onto to my camper play list for this summer, and I can't see them being removed any time soon.

17. I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles).  It may be about walking 500 miles, but it's nice to sing to while driving it 😄.

18. Nutbush City Limits by Tina Turner.  Another oldie but goldie.  RIP Tina.

19. Crash by The Primitives.  Probably not a title you'd expect for a driving playlist but it's still fun to drive to.

20. Do It To It by ACRAZE.  I let the girls choose one again, and this is what came up.  Made big by a TikTok craze, its a high energy banger, so I suppose it fits.

Thank you again for taking the time to stop and read.  I will be publishing Chaotic Campervaners second part of their playlist on the 18th September, so head back to see if our choices look anything like eachothers.

In the meantime, you can stay up to date with some of our comings and goings on Instagram and Twitter 🤙
