Top Tips for Visiting Stonehenge We had been intending to visit Stonehenge for a very long time!  Bakerboy had been there 3 times before many years ago, but The Bunny Whisperer and I had never visited it.  So whilst we were staying at the  Salisbury campsite , we thought that we would go to Stonehenge.  You can read all about our stay in Salisbury and what we got up to on our blog , but these are our top tips for visiting Stonehenge. Our Top Tips For Visiting Stonehenge 1. If you don't already have it, consider taking out  English Heritage membership  - If you haven't already got English Heritage membership it might be worth joining. It means that you will be able to visit Stonehenge free of charge.  Also, at busy times there may be charges for parking.  However, if you do have EH membership you won't be charged even when the car park is busy.  It does also mean that you can visit over 400 English Heritage sites free of charge such as  Old Sarum  which is only 12 miles from

  Our Visit to Stonehenge We had been intending to visit  Stonehenge for a very long time!  Bakerboy had been there 3 times before many years ago, but The Bunny Whisperer and I had never visited it.  So whilst we were staying at the  Salisbury campsite , we thought that we would go to see Stonehenge. Before we booked our tickets to Stonehenge we decided to take out English Heritage membership .  We had previously been members and although this cost more than the entry to Stonehenge, we decided that it would be worth it as we would then be able to visit Stonehenge and over 400 other EH sites free of charge.   We booked our free tickets for 9.30 am, the earliest time that we could as this would be quieter.   When we arrived at Stonehenge, the queue for pre-booked tickets was much shorter than for those who were booking on arrival.  As you approach the ticket booth, there are QR Codes for you to download the free audio tour.  Although, you can download this prior to your visit by visitin

Salisbury Camping and Caravanning Club Site Salisbury Campsite Aeroplanes, ancient stones, cathedral city and masses of history We arrived at the Salisbury Camping and Caravanning Club Site feeling very excited as this was going to be the first time that we had actually slept in Reo The Speedwagon , our trusty campervan.  We had a lovely flat pitch in the middle of the top field.  Once we had set up our awning we sat down to eat delicious woodfired pizzas from the pizza van that visits on Friday evenings between 5.30 and 7.30.  The Salisbury campsite has 2 fields, both of which slope. The facilities include 2 toilet blocks, a small one at the top of the campsite and the main block with toilets, showers, wash cubicles and a washing up area further down.  The site also has accessible facilities, a parent and child room and washing machines.  Although the campsite does not have a play area, it is nestled next to Hudson's Field where there is plenty of room for ball games.  It also boa
